St Mary’s Justice & Peace Group (lending support to CAFOD)
St Mary’s Justice and Peace seeks to be a visible sign for justice and peace in the Parish community. Our work is based on gospel values and catholic Social Teaching that as Christians we believe in the dignity of human beings and the rights of people to live in peace. We aim take action on the most pressing issues facing our communities, such as youth violence, poverty and supporting the vulnerable members of our community, as well as, getting to know one another.
We seek to identify and raise awareness of injustice and their root causes, whether they occur locally or abroad; through our supportive action to CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development), in order to foster and encourage social change for a better world.
Our Fair Trade Stall Every 3rd Sunday at the Porch
As part of our aim to promote justice in the world, St Mary’s Justice and Peace group hosts a Fair Trade stall every 3rd Sunday for all the Masses. By supporting fair trade we seek to transform the lives of poor farmers who produce the goods in the developing world by enabling them to use their skills and resources for a better life but more importantly, receive a fair price for their goods.
Our Meeting Times
St Mary’s Justice and Peace group meets last Thursday of the month from 8pm – 9pm. We are a small group and always welcome new members to our meeting.
